Woven in just two colours, this Turkish wool flat-weave was used by Kurdish nomadic tribes located around the area of Sivas as a tent divider, hanging from the ceiling of the tent creating a partition. Called ‘perdeh’, which means curtain in Turkish, these flat weaves are distinguished by the modernist character of the vertical stripe pattern as well as for the painterly quality of color, which is added by means of dip-dyeing after the weaving is completed.
