Kurdish nomadic tribes around the Sivas area used this vintage minimalist striped kilim, woven in just two colours, as a tent divider. They hung it from the tent’s ceiling to create a partition. Known as ‘perdeh’, meaning curtain in Turkish, these flat weaves stand out for their modernist character, featuring vertical stripe patterns. After weaving, the weavers added a painterly quality to the colour by dip-dyeing the kilim.
