The exclusive use of recycled rags affords an opportunity to impart a unique texture to the weaving, creating a surface that reminds one of the polychrome feathered textiles of the pre-Columbian period. Here, the weaver carefully separated the yarns by colour, the red shades flaking the ivories and the central black monolith, to yield the most dramatic effect possible.
