The rugs of the Beni Mguild tribe, located in the Moroccan Middle Atlas mountains, are often distinguished by the clear tones of their monochromatic rugs, woven with lanolin-rich wool and constructed in a particularly sturdy fashion. This early example has a striated field composed of a plethora of shades between light pink and purple, with a solid brown-black thick stripe vigorously interrupting the soft colour transitions. A natural work of genius design.
