A group of narrow runners with bold patterns and frequent use of recycled and synthetic fabrics appears to originate from the western foothills of the Middle Atlas mountains, in an area between Boujad and the Atlantic coastland, home to many Arabic and Arabised Berber tribes. Here, the weaver employs exclusively a selection of richly coloured industrial yarns to create a glowing ensemble of zig-zag devices. The irregular shape of these motifs, wider at the bottom and gradually tighter towards the end, depicts what could be a most colourful thunderbolt.
