Woven with natural, undyed wool, this rug belongs to the earliest group of Azilal weavings and the first ones to appear on the market around the turn of the Millennium. Azilal rugs share some design features with some of the ivory ground weavings from the relatively distant Middle Atlas region (like those from the Beni Mguild and the Beni Ouarain) yet they can be easily distinguished for their shorter pile and for their light and flexible handle. Their designs are often quite abstract with almost no urban influence.
