The Berber rugs from eastern Morocco, near the border with Algeria, are distinguished by wild patterns and audacious colour combinations. This small example, used originally as a pillow, displays all of these characteristics, the boldly coloured chequerboard pattern being superimposed by an ivory tree-like element.
