Mughal Dynasty Summer carpet are silk embroideries on a cotton background used as by the Mughal court as unique floor spreads for important guests during special occasions. This particular example is characterised by a small format as well as by a directional pattern of floral shrubs contained within cartouches, a design which is characteristic of the textile arts of the Mughal period and which derives from the architectural iconography of the court, as seen in majestic examples such as the Taj Mahal in Agra. The highly refined border of conjoined leafs and flower frames perfectly the composition. A museum quality antique textile in original condition.
