A very rare and elegant oversized Kansu carpet with mandala roundel and infinite discs, distinguished by a quincuncial pattern composed of a central Mandala roundel and four quartered elements in the corners, overlaid on a dark blue background embellished by an infinite repeat of small discs, the latter extending into the border. This design arrangement emphasises three-dimensionality, the discs creating a substrate on which the other elements of the pattern appear as floating.
