This is an extremely fine khorjin from the Qashquli sub-tribe, with the iconic anchor medallion of the Qashqai set against a dark blue ground. The field is embellished at the corner with directional floral elements reminiscent of those woven by the Mughals on their early rugs. The use of high-quality, soft wool is quite characteristic of the Qashquli, as is the use of a sharp red, seen here, particularly on the border.
