A very unusual Swedish pile rug with colour and design reminiscent of Beni Ouarain Berber rugs, indicating that Moroccan carpets were influencing Scandinavian Modern design quite early on. Here the pattern of black parallel lines on an ivory background is embellished by elaborately rendered plain weave ends in contrasting colours.
