A rare Kirghiz embroidery in the appliqué technique, woven in wool on a felt background, distinguished by a square format composed of nine compartments containing abstract motifs. Textiles of this type are heirs of the ancient ‘animal style’ iconography seen on the Scythian felts from Eurasia.
Conserved on a cotton backing and mounted on a wooden stretcher
