The antique Senneh rug represents perhaps the most luxurious weavings of the Qajar era. These are almost invariably woven in small formats, which is what makes this charming room size example particularly rare and unusual. Here a large hexagonal medallion and pendants motif floats on a rust red open field cartouche, this being overlaid onto a dark blue background. The floral cartouche and rosette border is characteristic of the finest Senneh weavings.
