Filikli rugs have a rich history deeply intertwined with the nomadic traditions of Central Anatolia. These incredibly soft and long-haired rugs, characterised by their monochrome appearance and use of goat hair, hold a special place in interior design and textile art.

‘Filikli’ is derived from the term “Filik,” which refers to the goat wool used in producing these rugs. Unfortunately, the Filik goat is nearly extinct, making these rugs even more precious. Filikli rugs represent one of the earliest and most primitive forms of weaving known to mankind, with a history spanning thousands of years.

Filikli rugs have evolved beyond their nomadic origins and have found a place in contemporary interior design to serve multiple purposes: wall decorations, adding texture and visual interest to a room. They are also suitable as bed or sofa covers, providing functionality and aesthetics.

Filikli rugs, with their ancient origins and unique characteristics, have made a remarkable journey from nomadic necessities to contemporary interior design. Their softness, versatility, and historical significance continue to make them a cherished and sought-after addition to homes, offering comfort and aesthetic appeal. Whether in natural tones or vibrant colours, Filikli rugs remain a timeless symbol of craftsmanship and tradition.
