We see a similar design scheme on this other outstanding Nichols carpet, although it differs from the preceding one for the subtle tone-on-tone leaf pattern of the background and by the wide and vigorous polychrome border, consisting of overlapping rectangular planes. This is characteristic of the so-called Cubist style, which distinguishes some of most iconic Art Deco carpets, as expressed on the weavings by design masters such as Ivan Da Silva Bruhns.
