Decorated by an infinite repeat pattern of the so-called ‘octagon rosette’ design, first seen on silk brocades of the Ming period, this carpet is woven with a palette as well as a texture typical of the ‘Nichols & Co’ carpets knotted in Tianjin during the Art Deco period. These sturdy, hardwearing carpets are now highly appreciated for their abstract compositions and are extremely well suited in the interiors employing 20th century design furniture.
