This Art Deco Aubusson rug was inspired by the quest for innovation that characterised the early years of the Art Deco period. This spirit of creativity and modernity is reflected in much of the textile art of that era. The rug leans on the design of D.I.M. (Décoration Intérieure Moderne), a leading Parisian interior design firm owned by two of the most creative artistes-décorateurs of the time.
The progressive pattern of this Aubusson carpet departs entirely from traditional schemes. It features a ‘sunburst’ motif composed of four layers of helix-like devices arranged to create a sixteen-pointed star.
