Anglo-Swiss firm Ziegler & Co. wove carpets in the Arak region during the late nineteenth century, often featuring classic Persian patterns in highly refined colours. Their master dyers created wool yarns with an almost translucent effect. This antique Ziegler example showcases scrolling palmettes and rosettes, executed with the refined stylization that distinguishes authentic Ziegler carpets. The perfect harmony between palette and design has made Ziegler carpets one of the most highly demanded types of Persian rugs. Historically, prestigious Western interiors have prominently featured these carpets.
