Tapestries such as the current example were woven in Spain towards the beginning of the 20th century when the high demand for French tapestries prompted the development of the ‘power loom’, which was a semi-mechanical, steam-operated machine employed in Spain to reproduce the themes present in European tapestries from the Middle Ages to Rococo.
