This is a beautifully distressed early Ningxia from the brief yet noble Yongzheng period, distinguished by more delicate forms and softer contrasts. The remarkable intricacy of the central medallion, composed of two highly stylised dragons in combat, is also echoed by the single geometrised dragons in the corners. The background’s delicate tone-on-tone pattern and the border’s gentle motion contrast.
