This is a beautiful fragment of an early Ottoman Medallion Oushak carpet, displaying parts of all the major features of the complete piece. The central medallion with the crenellated contour is flanked by a portion of the secondary medallion, together with its pendant, and is framed by guard stripes and a border characteristic of late 16th/early 17th-century carpets of this type. The sparkling colours are further proof of the early vintage of this wonderful example.
