A rare fragment of an early Karapinar rug with directional palmettes and stylised tulips. An example with this pattern is in the Al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait National Museum and another was recently auctioned by Sotheby’s London (7 November 2017, lot 57), both on yellow ground. The present piece is the only one known on blue ground.
