Boujads are woven from Arab tribes and arabised Berber tribes located on the western foothills of the Middle Atlas, between the towns of Boujad and Beni Mellal. Boujad rugs are among the most colourful representations of Berber woven art. This vintage example displays an abstract rendition of the chequerboard pattern, employing a mixture of wool together with recycled industrial fibres. The very small format makes this little jewel particularly desirable as an accent rug.
