Sofreh flatweaves are among the most prized possessions among the material culture of near eastern tribal people. These are employed as presentation textiles for food offerings when prestigious guests are visiting the tent. This very unusual example is distinguished by a horizontally arranged abstract pattern of stripes of varying widths and colours alternated to checkerboard elements together with other small rectangular devices. A genuine work of tribal textile art.
