I fell madly in love with this piece ever since I saw it published in Hali in 1990. To me it truly represents mastery in colour sensibility and design balance. The wonderfully abrashed emerald green background is perfectly punctuated by a small, blood red diamond island hosting four highly privileged lozenges, each containing the ubiquitous hooked motif, while a frame of superimposed half lozenges, stepped diamonds and a lonely star octagon look over. Touches of ivory cotton illuminate the composition, imparting it with some kind of other-worldly quality. Finely woven with exquisite detailing and in impeccable condition, it represents in every respect the pinnacle of Qashqa’i woven art.
