In his monograph dedicated to Persian flatweaves, Tanavoli ascribes a kilim with a similar design and texture to the area of Hashtrud (eight rivers), known for its ancient history of kilim weaving (Tanavoli 2002, pl. 30, p. 80). This finely worked example has all of the whites in cotton, including the areas worked in weft-float brocading. Given the large format of the single bag face, one can only imagine the striking visual impression of how it would have looked in its complete condition.
