A very unusual vintage Gabbeh rug, distinguished by an emerald green background in various gradations, embellished by sparse geometric motifs, as well as by an anthropomorphic figure. The yellow ground border contains a parallel set of cartouche-like elements characteristic of Kurdish tribal iconography. Indeed, Kurdish people have inhabited a considerable portion of eastern Anatolia since time immemorial and are among the main tribes responsible for carrying on the ancient weaving traditions.
It is a sweet little rug jewel that will definitely place the right accent in any area one chooses.
