The rugs of the Beni Ouarain confederation of Berber tribes are typically recognised by their ivory background, with the pattern being embellished in the tones of brown or black. This rare example has a predominantly green background (with traces of other colours mixed in the ‘salt and pepper’ technique) with the characteristic hooked lozenges being scattered around the field.
