Sofreh flat-weaves are among the most prized possessions among the material culture of Persian tribes. These are employed as presentation textiles for food offerings when prestigious guests are visiting the tent. This very unusual example is distinguished by an abstract pattern composed of stylised eagle-like elements in wool on an ivory cotton background, alternated to flame motifs reminiscent of the Zoroastrian past of this ancient Iranian tribe. A true masterpiece of tribal woven art.
