Formerly in the Arthur M. Sackler collection, this fine ivory ground rug shows the so-called ‘cracked ice’ pattern in the background on which float five lotus flower roundels arranged in a quincunxial fashion, surrounded by an array of yellow eight-petaled rosettes. The red is most probably obtained from logwood.
