Solange Patry-Biè was a French artist from the 1920’s who was principally known for her porcelain design work in Limoges. She also designed two carpets in the late 20’s for the famous Parisian department store Grand Magasins à la Place Clichy. Monogrammed ‘SP’, this rug has the jazzy floral pattern that is so typical of the period, in muted pastel shades probably due to prolonged exposure to natural light. The result is a carpet that can probably adapt itself better to many more contemporary interiors.
