A rare Tibetan meditation rug with a lacquer red background, sparsely embellished in golden yellow by a series of lotus flower roundels alternated to geometric ‘Shou’ motifs, symbols of longevity. This pattern is characteristic of Chinese silk brocades of the Ming period, which typically adorn the interiors of Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. Very finely knotted with extremely soft and glossy Tibetan highland wool.
