A rare and elegant Tibetan rug in the khaden format distinguished by a snow white background decorated by an infinite repeat of parallel and offset rows of black stepped diamonds, creating a chromatically balanced composition. Khadens were originally intended as a meditation rugs for High Lamas in Buddhist monasteries. The silky quality of the Himalayan wool, the fineness of weave and the overall good condition contribute in placing this khaden at the pinnacle of the Tibetan weaving tradition.
