A fine Senneh rug characterised by a medallion and pendants pattern, this placed within an ivory cartouche layered over a blue background. The composition is completely filled by the so-called herati pattern, which consists of a repeating unit of four small stylised leafs sprouting from a central rosette. This Persianate design was used throughout the near east., as it became extremely popular in the West, where it was labeled ‘the Gentleman’s pattern’.
